Biography
The young German mezzo-soprano, Maria Eichler, finds her artistic passion in the portrayal of staged roles, extensive oratorios, and opera and choral productions.
Her love for storytelling is evident in a diverse repertoire, placing a special emphasis on performative presentations that create a unique fusion of voice and movement.
Her artistic journey extends from the realm of Early Music to Contemporary Music, where she delicately explores personal and musical boundaries. In this captivating juxtaposition, she finds space for creative expression and the discovery of unprecedented avenues of artistic communication.
Through the artistic bridge spanning traditional and contemporary sounds, she opens doors to new experiences, crafting a rich sonic tapestry that transports the audience into different musical realms.
Past Projects
Oratorio
In recent years, she has graced the stage as a soloist in various concert works, featuring compositions by Mozart, Telemann, Schumann, Handel, Haydn, Monteverdi, and Bach, showcasing the breadth of her vocal versatility.
opera
Notably, she appeared as a guest soloist, portraying 'Larina' in Tchaikovsky's 'Eugene Onegin' at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg, GER. Previously, she was invited to perform the role of 'Dido' in Purcell's opera 'Dido and Aeneas' at the same institution.
Her engagements included the role of 'Tassile' in Handel's 'Alessandro' within a collaboration of the Young German Philharmonic Orchestra and the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra in Bamberg, GER. The same year, she took on the role of 'Margot' in the production 'Flammen' at the Opera Accelerator in Lithuania.
Ensemble singing
Beyond her solo endeavors, she places a special focus on ensemble and choral singing. Her extensive collaboration with professional ensembles includes Studium Chorale, NL and Ensemble Reflection, BEL. Since 2023, she has been a permanent member of the Symphonic Choir Bamberg, GER.
2022-2023 she was selected to be part of the Young Artists Programme of the Dutch Chamber Choir - NKK NXT. In the performative production 'Minaminotori', a collaboration with Daniel Cross (ROSA ENSEMBLE), they were featured at events such as the Wonderfeel Festival, NL, Klaterklanken Festival, NL, and the Gaudeamus Festival, NL.
CONTEMPORARY MUSIC / PERORMANCES
Venturing into the contemporary music realm, she recently stepped in as a step-in in the newly composed opera production 'The East Complex' by Riles Walsh in Ghent, BEL. She was chosen by composer Daan Geysen as the soloist for his award-winning composition, presenting it at the Grachtenfestival Amsterdam, NL, and the Gaudeamus Festival, NL.
education
Maria Eichler completed her Bachelor's degree in Voice at the Hochschule für Musik in Saarbrücken, GER under the guidance of Prof. Frank Wörner, and pursued her Master's degree at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp, BEL with Andrew Richards. She received further inspiration from Lucienne van Deyck, Charlotte Wainberg, and Claron McFadden.
